
At Nyamarambe in Kisii County, a passenger bus operated by Guardian Bus Service crashed into the river.
Speaking to Wakenyaleo.co.ke, a Guardian representative from the Kisii office verified the accident that occurred on Saturday morning, November 26.
She did not specify, however, how many passengers were on board, how many were hurt, or whether any fatalities were reported.
“I’m heading straight there, and I’ll keep you updated. However, I can attest to the accident’s occurrence “she declared.
According to reports, a number of the passengers were seriously hurt in the collision.
Seven kilometers away from the scene of the accident, at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, the injured passengers were taken.
As of September 26, 2022, the country had registered about a 20 per cent increase in the number of passengers involved in road traffic accidents, according to the National Transport and Safety Authority.
Pedestrian accidents increased by 10 per cent, followed by motorcyclists, drivers, pillion passengers and pedal cyclists.
NTSA added that the total number of victims of road accidents from January to October 30, 2022, increased to 17,550 from 16,642 in a similar period in 2021.
