Karua Dares IG Koome To Arrest Her During Monday Protests

Japhet Koome, the police inspector general, has received a reprimand from Martha Karua, the leader of the Narc-Kenya party, for declaring that Azimio la Umoja’s planned rallies are unlawful.

At a church service on Sunday at the Jesus Teaching Ministry, Karua urged Kenyans to attend the protests on Monday in big numbers because they are legally permitted to do so.

There will be no harm done to any of us or the protesters. According to our constitution, we will march in silence, and we won’t listen to any messages that will cause us to stumble, she declared.

While addressing IG Koome, Karua said that it is not the mandate of police to grant permission for demonstrations.

“Like us, you will uphold the constitution. In the constitution, it is stated that we must give notice rather than request permission to demonstrate, according to Karua.

“We have not asked you for permission, the permission is protected by the constitution. Stop disturbing our peaceful protests. If you cause unrest, you will be cursed,” she added.

The Narc-Kenya party leader went ahead to dare the IG to arrest her during Monday protests, if at all the demonstrations are illegal.

“You said you could handcuff us tomorrow; please come and shackle me. You’ll have my hands tied without a hitch tomorrow. But the day will come when you’ll be handcuffed because of your errors. Karua responded, “You will be punished in accordance with the constitution. I faced threats from the Moi dictatorship and will not be intimidated now.

She warned President William Ruto against overseeing violations of human rights in Kenya.

“If you were duly elected, why do you fear the people? If you were duly elected, open the servers.”
