He described how he was earning Ksh3,000 as a librarian at Kiambugi Secondary School, and the Ksh3,000 had a portion taken out to settle his fee arrears. As he was a student there, the debt for the school fees accumulated.

He said, “When I was in high school, I had two goals: to be rich and to be a leader.”

Notably as of 2022, MPs are entitled to a minimum monthly salary of between Ksh621,250 and Ksh710,000.

In a review by the Salaries Remuneration Commission (SRC) in July 2022, MPs and Senators were to earn Ksh710,000 each among other allowances.

He also explained how, in form one, he repaired shoes for other pupils before moving on to manage the canteen in form two.

Although his family was unable to cover the cost of his schooling, Nyoro also described working as a hawker while in form three.

“I discovered that school clubs were running the canteen, so I ran for as many club chairmanships as I could to take over the canteen without interruption. I used to bring bags of purchases home “He described.

While at Kenyatta University (KU) studying Bachelor of Arts (Economics) between 2005 and 2009, he established a business while in his second year and he also wrote a book.

“I stated that I was a student at KU and the future Kiharu MP on the last page of the book,” Nyoro recounted.

He continued by saying, “I requested my mom to pray for me not to have a job. I did the arithmetic and realized I would earn less if I was working.” He also emphasized that his entrepreneurial side began to emerge at a young age.

Nyoro emphasized the value of self-employment and urged the students to be open-minded both within and outside of the classroom.

As a cardiologist, you are not restricted to working at an established hospital; you can even open your own, he continued.
