For a price, Michael Mureithi, often known as Jopinto, gives instructions to people in Nairobi who are lost or unsure of how to go to various locations.
Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, is known as the “city of opportunity,” thus thousands of young people visit the city each day to find employment and create fantastic futures but this is not always the case for many Kenyans.

In a recent interview, Michael said that after living in the city for a while, he realized that many people constantly sought directions, so he made the decision to build his enterprise that provides directions to the many people that flood the city every day in search of a living.
The Nairobi-based city guide said that unemployment and tough economic times forced him to start the business.

‘I have to perform this duty since it pays my bills,’ he said.
When discussing the state of the business, Jopinto said that, on average, over 100 customers use his services every day.

He added that he charges KSh100 for providing instructions and KSh150 to take a customer to the exact location they want to go.
Based on a rapid assessment of the numbers and the type of service sorted by the customer, Jopinto can earn up to KSh10,000 or more on a successful day.

Assuming he works from Sunday to Sunday, this multiplied by 30 days equals at least KSh300,000.
This is far more than what the majority of junior and middle-level employees in both the public and private sectors make in a Month.
