Following a devastating fire that claimed the lives of three of his relatives, Ryan Mwenda, the 16-year-old Kenyan actor who rose to fame as Simba in the popular TV soap opera Zora, has publicly appealed to former President Uhuru Kenyatta and current Head of State William Ruto.
In a 5-minute video on Instagram, Mwenda shared the tragic news, revealing that a fire engulfed their South B residence on the night of March 2, 2024.

“…I am Jackline Kawira’s nephew, Tamyra Karimi’s cousin and a close friend of their nanny Doris Kinya. On Saturday March 2, I lost them all in the South B estate in a tragic fire that gutted their entire house,” he said.
“This is such a devastating time for me and my family and I humbly appeal to my friends, the fourth president of Kenya His Excellency Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and the fifth president of Kenya His Excellency President William Ruto to come to the aid of my family. to help them give them a proper farewell,” he appealed.
Mwenda wrote alongside the video; “I am absolutely devastated. Words cannot explain my pain at this moment. Losing 3 of my relatives in such a short period of time has hit us hard as a family. We ask that you keep us in your prayers.”
Lost grandpa
In an earlier post detailing his grievous loss, Mwenda also shared the heartbreaking news that he lost his grandfather five months ago.
“Sad! I lost three members of my family on Saturday night. Loving Aunt Jackie, my beloved cousin Tamyra and Aunt Kinya their housekeeper. I am devastated.
It’s unbelievable how these three lives were lost in hell… I can’t believe to imagine the screams and cries that you called in vain for help… Tamyra, our youngest cousin, I’m sorry that no one listened to your cry… It’s not good at all! Lord, help me.
Lord, remember at this time to my grandmother. I lost my grandfather five months ago! 😭Lord, come to my family…”
Doris Kanario, the victim’s sister, shared a heartbreaking account of the fire on Facebook.
She revealed that Jackie Smith’s house was engulfed in flames, resulting in the tragic deaths of Jackie, her young daughter Tamyra and their longtime housekeeper, Kinyi.
Kanario mentioned that she had only spoken to her sister an hour before the incident occurred.
“Sister, I was chatting with you until 1 am, what happened in two hours that you lost your family? Only God knows,” she mourned.
