Jacque Maribe’s job saga takes a new turn as CS Kuria breaks his silence and heads to DCI
Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has finally responded to reports that former Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe has been appointed to head communications in his ministry.
This comes after the Public Service Commission denied that it was involved in the recruitment for the position.
CS Kuria denied speaking to the Nation Media Group about Maribe’s appointment and shared a screenshot of the text, which he said was doctored to make it look like he was commenting on the story.
The Cabinet Secretary also said he would head to the Crime Directorate to report the alleged forgery.
“Unlike the Nation reports, I was never interviewed by the media house nor did I comment or report Jacque Maribe. I called on the CEO Stephen Gitagam to provide evidence from one Mwangi Muiruri who wrote the article.
“I have since informed Mr Gitagam that the said screenshot is a forgery and I will come to the DCI headquarters tomorrow at 9.30am to report the fraud and forgery to Nation Media Group and the reporter,” he said.
The text, which CS Kuria claimed was forged, claimed that the Public Service Commission was involved in the appointment of Maribe.
However, despite the condemnation of the said text, former MP Jacque defended himself by saying that they had been friends for 16 years.
“Meanwhile, I stand with Jacque Maribe, my friend of the last 16 years, and I will stand with her as I stood with Governor Kawira Mwangaza as a result of the unjustified bullying,” he added.
Public Service Commission Statement
On Thursday, the Public Service Commission denied the appointment of Jacque Maribe as Head of Communications at the Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Supply Management.
Ambassador Anthony Muchiri, the Chairman of the PSC, made it clear in a recent press release on Thursday, March 14 that the commission has not made such an appointment nor has it received any application to employ Maribe for the role.
He stressed: “For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive process if it becomes vacant.”
This comes after news of Maribe’s appointment sparked heated debate on social media.
Jacque Maribe was later spotted at an event attended by CS Kuria fielding more questions about her role.
