At the age of 86, Sofia holds a narrative unlike any other, having rejected 100 men in her youth.

Today, she shares her profound journey of living through decisions that shaped her destiny in ways she never imagined.

Facing the twilight of her life in extreme poverty and solitude, Sofia opens up about the regrets and reflections of a path chosen.

During her youth, she didn’t spend much time with others compared to other girls.

“I didn’t like making friends or getting closer to men. Often guys would come to me and say they loved me, but I was always busy with many things. Also, whenever a guy approached me, I would first look at him and try to figure out if he had a good future ahead,” Sofia recalled during an Interview with Afrimax English.

She asserted that she would assess men who approached her for a relationship and determine if he would become rich or stay poor while with the man intending to marry her.

“At that time, I thought I was really smart by thinking this way, but now I can see the results of those choices,” she painfully regretted.

She further claims that as a norm in society, parents could search for husbands for their daughters, but Sofia wanted to make her own choices.

“In our family, we had a rule where you marry a man chosen by your parents. But I always told my dad that I didn’t want to marry a man they picked out for me. I wanted to fall in love with a man I found on my own,” she continued.

Sofia would stay away from home to avoid the husband her parents wanted her to marry.

As she avoided marriage, time passed, and she continued to grow even older.

“I reached a point and realized that no guy was talking to me, and I realized there was a problem, so I began to accept their feelings. But I still had one issue. I would find something unhappy with a guy no matter their appearance,” she said.

At one point, Sofia fell in love with a guy, but it reached a point she felt the guy was not the right one for her as he asked for sex before marriage.

As she grew old, Sofia ended up living in regrets, wasting the chance she had that she could be having children and grandchildren at her age.
