Gachagua stressed that this new regulation will allow Kenyans to engage in construction work instead of visiting bars during the day.
Addressing President Ruto, Gachagua remarked: “You did not recommend us to drink during the day. Now we have an opportunity because there will be job opportunities for people to get involved in the work.”
“To clarify, bars open at 5am and close at 11pm. During the remaining hours, let us devote ourselves to hard work, building houses and providing shelter to our fellow Kenyans.”

The Deputy President also commended President William Ruto for his leadership in creating affordable housing for low-income earners, which he described as a significant step towards the realization of the government’s development goals.
Under the Affordable Housing Act, Kenyans will contribute 1.5% of their monthly income towards the Housing Levy, with a matching amount paid by their employers.
The operating regulations are stated in § 34 of the Act on the Control of Alcoholic Beverages, which stipulates the operation of bars on weekdays from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on weekends from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Home Affairs Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki warned last week that individuals caught violating the order could face heavy fines or jail time.
