During a violent heist at Kitui County's Kavisuni Market, a pastor was shot and killed by Kitui police.

The pastor, named Ezekiel Muinde Mwangangi, was killed while supervising a new branch at Kauma Market, which is located approximately five kilometers away. He was a preacher at Heaven City Chapel, which is situated in the Soweto area.
A fellow worshipper who had been involved in the evening heist with him managed to flee with gunshot wounds when the renegade preachers were hit by a barrage of police bullets.

While his accomplice, who is currently on the run, is thought to be armed with a real gun, the pastor was discovered with a toy gun, a sharp double-edged blade, and a fake police radio.

The store owner claims that shortly after he had closed, the thieves approached him dressed like police officials, saying they were looking into a case of stolen items they thought he was selling.
