Ezekiel Mutua Celebrates First Earnings from TikTok, Advocates for Clean Content
Ezekiel Mutua, the CEO of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya, recently took to social media to share his excitement after receiving his first earnings from TikTok. Mutua, known for his advocacy for clean content, expressed his joy on Tuesday evening with a public announcement.
“At exactly 10:20 pm today, I made my first withdrawal from TikTok through my PayPal account. The journey towards sanitizing TikTok with clean content has begun in earnest,” Mutua stated.
A New Era for TikTok Content
Mutua emphasized his commitment to proving that content can be successful without being inappropriate. “I hope to show that clean and useful content on TikTok can sell. One day, I will post a million here through such content!”
His announcement follows a recent meeting with controversial preacher Pastor Kanyari, who has faced criticism for his conduct on the platform. Mutua has been vocal about the need to address inappropriate behavior online, especially from influential figures.
Addressing Inappropriate Conduct
“Pastor Kanyari has disgraced the church. The recent incidents of misconduct online must be condemned. If pastors continue this drama for clout, there’s no telling where it will lead,” Mutua criticized.
On May 24th, Mutua met with Pastor Kanyari and other TikTok influencers to discuss how Kanyari could positively impact the platform. The meeting aimed to mentor Kenyan youth who engage in inappropriate content on TikTok.
A Commitment to Positive Change
While Mutua does not condone blasphemy or misconduct, he believes there needs to be a genuine conversation to help youth facing real challenges, such as depression and substance abuse.
In a symbolic ceremony, Mutua declared Pastor Kanyari the “President of TikTok.” Holding a Bible, Kanyari pledged, ”I swear that I will not mislead them or disgrace the name of God. I will uphold dignity, integrity, and responsibility and work together with TikTokers and all the youth on this platform to build them. So help me God.”
The Road Ahead
Ezekiel Mutua’s journey with TikTok is just beginning, but his vision is clear. By promoting clean and useful content, he hopes to set a positive example and inspire others to follow suit. His efforts reflect a broader mission to uplift Kenyan youth and foster a more respectful and productive online community.
