
Beginning in December, the Hustler Fund, the financial inclusion initiative of President William Ruto, will permit borrowers to borrow up to KES 500.
The maximum credit amount provided by the Hustler Fund will be based on the borrower’s credit score and capped at KES 50,000.00, according to the dispatch from Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting.
The loan interest rate will be capped at 8 percent per annum computed on a pro-rated basis as the first single-digit credit product in the country and the region, according to the dispatch.
Members of the Cabinet gave their approval to the institutional and legislative framework that would support the creation and operation of the Fund during the meeting that was presided over by President Ruto.
The Fund is anticipated to release the majority of Kenyans who were previously locked out of affordable credit facilities.
In accordance with the Constitution, the National Treasury has already begun holding public town hall meetings to solicit feedback on the draft Hustler Fund legislation.
