In an unexpected turn of events, a video of him berating his brother-in-law over a botched deal has surfaced.

In the video, Mike Sonko is seen splashing millions of dollars and Kenyan shillings that are organized in various suitcases.
He is heard yelling that the millions are nothing more than pocket change and that he will just use them to feed his many wives and fuel his gas guzzlers.

Mike Sonko maintains that he has no obligation to feed or provide for anyone; rather, he believes that each and every Kneyn should build their own wealth or simply wait to enter heaven.
He claims he has no money to give to an adult who can hustle his way up the corporate ladder.

At the Salama Blings Hotel in Mombasa, it is alleged that he defrauded his own brother-in-law out of a Ksh. 1.2 Million deal. According to a contract with Mike Sonko, the in-law was entitled to any money over the agreed amount after bringing guests to the hotel that belongs to him. The hotel charged the visitors Ksh. 550k.
However, the in-law was never paid the agreed-upon deal after the deal was completed and the guest was billed Ksh. 1.2M. However, he was subjected to abuse and threats.
