Eliud Kipchoge Loses Boston Marathon

Renowned Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge on Monday, April 17, finished sixth in the 2023 Boston Marathon.

Kipchoge, who led a pack of 11 athletes to break away, dropped back after 25 kilometres. He clocked a time of 2:09:23.

2022 Defending Champion Evans Chebet bagged the gold medal after completing the race at 2:05:54.

Tanzanian Gabriel Geay (2:06:04) and Benson Kipruto finished second and third respectively.

Chebet will take home Ksh20.2 million ($150,000) for winning the race. He became the sixth male athlete in history to defend his Boston Marathon title back to back

Other Kenyans in the race include Augustine Choge, Albert Korir, Hassan Chahdi , John Korir, and Mathew Korir.
