Inspector Mwala: From 150 Bob Per Month To Over 500K Monthly Salary

Born in Taita Taveta County under the name Davis Mwabili, Inspector Mwala is 51 years old as of 2022. He began his acting career in 1993 and first appeared in popular shows like Vitimbi and Vioja Mahakamani that aired on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. Despite being paid only Ksh. 150 a month, he continued to pursue his passion and in 2000 was allowed to air his show, “Inspector Mwala,” on Citizen TV.

In his show, Inspector Mwala plays a no-nonsense police inspector at Kona Mbaya police station, working alongside other actors such as Morio the gardener, and Sarah Otieno (Lavender). He has also mastered infusing his acting with a Kikamba accent, leading many to believe he is from Ukambani. Mwala is also a radio personality and brand ambassador for companies such as Naivas and Sona MoJa.
