CCTV footage has emerged of a daylight robbery in the Eastleigh area which left a 26-year-old businessman injured.

The incident, captured in a video that went viral online on Saturday, March 30, showed two men on a motorcycle arresting businessman Adan Ali Muhammed, who was riding the motorcycle to deposit money in a bank at BBS mall.

In the video, one of the suspects got off his motorcycle, pointed a gun and shot the businessman before taking the bag he was carrying.

Reports indicate that the businessman suffered a gunshot wound during the altercation. Volunteers rushed him to the nearby Health Gate Hospital.

At this time, the full extent of Ada’s injuries and the severity of the shooting are still unknown.

After this incident, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department arrived at the scene to collect evidence and assess the situation.

However, despite the large number of law enforcement agencies around Eastleigh, the busy district continues to struggle with rising crime.

Surrounded by five police stations including Pangani Police Station, Eastleigh North Police Station, Eastleigh Air Base Police Command Camp, California Police Post and Air Force Base Moi, the area has witnessed several crime incidents in recent times.

In August last year, the police launched an investigation into the stabbing of a notorious criminal along Eastleigh’s Third Avenue.

In November, three people suspected of being part of the gang were arrested and charged with robbery with violence. The suspects targeted PSV drivers and Sako matatu staff, demanding payment for their services and resorting to violence when they were refused.
