Meru County Deputy Chairperson Mwenda Ali has been airlifted to Nairobi after sustaining injuries in a horrific road accident in Gatunduri, Embu County.

The vice chairperson lost her daughter in an accident. The accident site is along the Embu-Meru highway.

Embu West Traffic Base Commander Solomon Wamae confirmed the incident, saying the 6-year-old child sustained serious injuries and was taken to Tenri Hospital where she succumbed to treatment.

Another child was airlifted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi with his father, both with serious injuries.
“Two motor vehicles, a Subaru and a Toyota Hilux, were involved in a head-on accident in the Gatunduri area along the Embu-Meru highway.

The deputy speaker’s driver suffered a head injury and dislocated his left knee. He was also airlifted to Karen Hospital Nairobi.

The accident left the Deputy Speaker’s Subaru car in ruins after it burst into flames following a head-on collision with a Toyota Hilux.

The vehicle was engulfed in flames beyond recognition, while the double-cab pick-up went into the thicket by the side of the road with its front end partially destroyed.
