Why Manzi Wa Kibera was denied entry to her ex-boyfriend’s funeral has been revealed.

At a private ceremony held at Nairobi’s Lang’ata Cemetery, 67-year-old Samwel Nzuki—who rose to prominence due to his romance with socialite Manzi Wa Kibera—was buried.

Given the publicity their relationship had earned, there was some wonder as to why Manzi Wa Kibera was not present at the funeral.

Nzuki’s family chose to have a small send-off attended only by close relatives and a few acquaintances in order to maintain Nzuki’s burial secret.

The family’s decision was explained by Manzi Wa Kibera’s manager, Chali wa Kibera, who said that they did not invite press representatives because they wanted to stay out of the spotlight.

I would want to let you know that Mzee Nzuki was laid to rest today.

in the Lang’at Cemetery. The family didn’t want to be in the media, thus there was no presence there. All they wanted to do was give him a fitting farewell from the cameras. I completely see why Manzi wa Kibera and I were not invited. They must have assumed that the journalists would accompany us there. We’ll schedule a time on our own to visit the tomb. Chali wa Kibera stated, “They agreed on this.”

Allegations of infidelity dogged Manzi Wa Kibera and Nzuki’s relationship, which ended in May 2023.

Citing Nzuki’s reticent usage of his phone, Manzi Wa Kibera accused him of having an affair with another woman.

On the other hand, Nzuki asserted that Manzi Wa Kibera had taken advantage of him and left him when he was in financial ruin.

On April 21, Nzuki passed away.
