CS Mutua Lectures Kenyans Over Police Officer Who Lost His Hands During Demos, Gifts Him Sh1 Million
Kenyans Urged to Trust the Democratic Process
In a recent speech, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Alfred Mutua expressed his disappointment with the ongoing protests against the Finance Bill. Speaking at the 2024 wildlife census launch in Narok, Mutua stressed that the bill had undergone a thorough review process, with all controversial provisions being addressed based on public feedback.
Mutua emphasized that the cabinet does not have the final say on matters of policy, as the bill was sent to the National Assembly for public broadcasting and comments. He stated that all stakeholder requests have been taken into consideration, and the bill has been subjected to comprehensive examination.
“We live in a democracy where the cabinet does not have the final say in matters of policy,” Mutua said. “The bill was sent to the National Assembly for broadcasting purposes, and after that, it was made available to wananchi for public comment.”
The Case of the Injured Police Officer
Mutua also addressed the growing disdain for law enforcement, using the example of senior police officer David Maina, who lost both of his arms during recent protests in Nairobi. The CS announced that the government will be gifting Maina Sh1 million in recognition of his sacrifice and commitment to serving the nation.
“Individuals and activists are becoming overburdened to the point where, given the volume of misinformation and lack of consideration for the democratic process, one would assume that life or death was at stake,” Mutua said, condemning the unnecessary and ill-informed protests.
Mutua’s message is clear: Kenyans should trust the democratic process and refrain from engaging in protests that disrupt the country’s progress. The government has addressed the public’s concerns, and it is now time for citizens to work together to move the nation forward.
