Tragic! 10 dead, several injured after 5 vehicles collide in Salama area, Nairobi-Mombasa Highway

10 people have died following a horrific road accident involving five vehicles in the Salama area along the Nairobi Mombasa expressway on Monday evening.

According to a police report lodged at the Salama traffic base, the fatal accident occurred at around 8.30pm in the Mlima Kiu area of ​​Salama in Makueni district.

The collision involved an 18-seater matatu registered to Spanish Sacco, a trailer, a lorry, another 14-seater matatu registered to Nakena Sacco and a saloon car.

Paul Musila, Makueni County Health CECM confirmed the incident and stressed that seven people were taken to the Sultan Hamud sub-county hospital.

Witnesses at the scene rushed to assist in rescuing the survivors.
“Seven injured persons were taken to Sultan Hamud Hospital at 10:00 p.m.,” he said.
