iShowSpeed Kenya Tour Pushes On as Crew Member Suffers Serious Injury During Nairobi Livestream
A key member of iShowSpeed’s team was injured while handling a stunt during a Nairobi livestream.
A dramatic moment unfolded during American streamer iShowSpeed’s Nairobi visit after one of his crew members suffered a serious injury while working on a live segment. The team member, known as Slippy, later shared that the incident left him with spinal and nerve problems.
Slippy, who manages stunts and on-ground coordination, said the injury happened during a demanding sequence involving fast-moving vehicles and a helicopter. Despite intense pain and physical strain, he pushed through to ensure the content went live as planned.
In a message shared online, Slippy explained that the injury caused him to lose feeling in one leg and left him physically weak due to pain and dehydration. Even so, he stressed that he remained committed to the project and would continue working, though with limited movement for now.
His words showed the pressure behind the scenes as the team works to deliver nonstop live content to millions of viewers worldwide.
The injury came at a time when iShowSpeed’s Kenya tour was hitting major milestones. One livestream alone attracted over 180,000 viewers at the same time, while his YouTube channel gained close to 200,000 new subscribers within hours.
Every stop in Nairobi turned into a public event, with fans lining the streets, recording videos, and chanting his name. Due to the crowds, police escorts and added security were brought in to manage movement.
Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano praised the visit, saying it placed Kenya on a powerful global stage. She noted that the livestreams allowed millions to see the country’s culture, people, and hospitality in real time.
According to officials, the exposure is especially valuable for attracting younger travellers who follow digital creators closely.
During his stay, iShowSpeed took part in activities that quickly went viral online. These included visiting a Nairobi school, training with the national rugby team, spending time with javelin star Julius Yego, touring the city in a colourful matatu, and interacting with wildlife at Nairobi National Park.
Each moment added to the growing buzz around Kenya as a fun and welcoming destination.
Kenya is one of 20 countries featured in iShowSpeed’s “Speed Does Africa” tour. The project focuses on daily livestreams that highlight local food, sports, culture, and everyday life across the continent.
Despite the setback faced by the crew, the team says the mission remains unchanged: showing Africa to the world without slowing down.
As Slippy put it, the work continues no matter the challenges.
