MP Peter Kaluma Attacked, Gun Stolen

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma was reportedly attacked by a mob in Kasipul during the ongoing by-elections.
Sources indicate that the incident occurred at the Agoro Sare polling station, where Kaluma was serving as an observer for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party.
According to MP Peter Kaluma, his bodyguard—who was also assaulted during the chaos—lost his firearm in the commotion. Images obtained by Kenyans.co.ke show the legislator being surrounded and attacked by an armed mob, leaving him with visible injuries.
Medical personnel at the polling station administered first aid to Kaluma, who was bleeding from the head, while police officers intervened to restore order.
Following the incident, Kaluma claimed that the attackers were linked to Phillip Aloko, an independent candidate vying for the Kasipul MP seat.
The lawmaker stated that such attacks are intended to deter people from voting in the by-elections.
” The way to end is not fighting back, we are very small people, we would have fought them back. Don’t fight them because that is what they want. They don’t want people to come to vote,” Kaluma said.
