Emmy-Winning Actor Timothy Busfield Accused of Child Abuse in New Mexico Case

An arrest warrant was issued for actor Timothy Busfield. Allegations relate to child sexual abuse

An arrest warrant has been issued in New Mexico for Emmy Award-winning actor and director Timothy Busfield over allegations of child sexual abuse.

The warrant was signed on Friday, following a criminal complaint filed by an investigator from the Albuquerque Police Department.

According to the complaint, a child reported that Busfield touched him inappropriately on several occasions while they were on the set of the television series The Cleaning Lady.

Busfield is said to have been both directing and acting in the show at the time of the alleged incidents.

Investigators say the alleged abuse took place between November 2022 and spring 2024, when the child was 7 and 8 years old.

The minor has been identified in court documents using initials only, in line with child protection laws.

The complaint notes that the child was later diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety following the alleged incidents.

A social worker involved in the case documented that the boy experienced nightmares involving Busfield and was afraid to report what happened because Busfield held authority as the director on set.

The arrest warrant lists two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor.

As of late Friday, Busfield’s lawyer and agent had not responded to requests for comment on the matter.

Authorities have not yet confirmed when the actor is expected to appear in court.
